Rediscovered My Love of Sewing!!!!!

It has been a lovely week here in the Thumb despite the predictions for rain and even snow. We have had neither and it is extremely dry here, we are desperate for rain. The farmers are planting and praying.

We spent last weekend at The Edge and I took some pics of the new doors added to the sunroom and the slip covers I made for the chairs. I am pleased with both. Missing are pics of the pillars and new paint colors. So they will come later.

I also have been making more things with the Amy Butler fabric so here are some shots of the Eyeglass case's I made. Then I pulled out some of my vintage stash and made a tote bag from a McCall's pattern. It is huge so I am thinking about having the pattern reduced and making another one. I also noticed that the shots of my first bag are really washed out so here is an attempt at a better color view and of the grommets I added on the sides to give it some interest.

I have however run out of many of my sewing notions and with the price of gas what it is $3.80gl I am not making random trips to the city so Bob is going to be making his first visit to JoAnn fabrics for me HA! I will have to walk him through it on the phone as he looks for batting, linings, purse findings etc. It will be a real learning curve.

Well tomorrow is our 32d anniversary and we are going to wait till friday evening to go to the Bank in Port Austin for dinner I think. So will let you know the rating after that!

Oh one more thing. While cruising the blogs today I discovered a new thing(to me) for doing laundry. Put 1/2 c baking soda in a load of wash and it will soften the clothes without those chemical loaded sheets in the dryer, and also put 1/2c vinegar in the rinse to remove all remaining odor and static. VERY COOL. I can't wait to try it. I am thinking Green these days. (no pun intended for those of you in the know)
