New Year Challenge, are YOU up to it?

I am not suppose to be writing this right now. I am showing my house later today (it's for sale) and I am procrastinating with the clean up as usual. But I have been mulling this prospect over for some time now and even though I am shaking in my boots as I write this I am wondering what you think and if anyone would be willing to join me in the challenge, So here goes.

I have been looking around my life lately, let me clarify that my closet, and have wondered do I really need another piece of clothing EVER? Here is my closet, who is brave enough to show that, yikes.
So I have been wondering if I could go 6 months without buying any new clothes. Hum, what a concept. Look at me chickening out. I was going to go for a year but I see I typed 6 months(how did that happen?).

The Idea of shopping in my own house became a reality last month when I went shopping in my attic for new drapes for my living room. I have over the years collected several sets, so up went a different pair that where not even purchased for this house. I think they look great and I'm going to keep them up. So the prospect of shopping in my own closet was born. I have in the last month altered two skirts and coat to update the styles and I feel really good about that.

Now I know what you are thinking, But I cant sew. Oh fooey. Find a tailor in your area that does hemming and the like and for a nominal fee you can change up perfectly good items in your closet to have a new life. I have given so much clothing to Goodwill over the years that I shutter to think what small nation I have clothed. I need to be the charity for a change and see if I can be a more responsible spender and shopper.
Not all of this is about the money. Even thought it all helps these days. I have been looking into the ecological effects of all this cheap clothing that is produced in China and other places that don't adhere to any emissions regulations. and it is appalling the amount s of T shirts and items we don't need that contribute to it all. Not to mention the child labor. Lets not go down that road it will make us all cry.
So that it is. Do you think I can do it? You know there is power in numbers so are YOU willing to try it also? I am in the process of thinking up some guidelines. I was thinking that accessories, like a fabulously comfortable pair of shoes might be exempt, or a new pair of earrings now and then because I still have to feel like a girl. Also I think that traded and secondhand clothing would be good, like recycling. So weight in if you want and pass the idea along. Follow me on this quest and invite your friends. Lets see where it takes us. We might find a new way of looking at our time instead of shopping. Hummmmm what a concept.
