Love"Rocks"
Okay, this is a true conversation that took place last evening while we where sitting around after dinner surfing the net.
But first let me tell you that the hubby and I have been knocking around the possibility of taking a trip south to the Caribbean or Mexico and have spent endless hours searching the resort reviews and as yet have not committed to any.So here goes.
Hubby: "John called today."
Me: "Oh? Whats up with him?"
Hubby: " He said they where going to Jamaica and I got the impression he was hinting about us going with them."
Me: " When are they going?"
Hubby: I think he said the END of February, like the 25th or something."
Me: " Well whats the name of the resort I have probably looked at it's reviews, although I was thinking we would go around Valentines Day weekend"
Hubby: " Oh, Well , when is that?" Is is soon, or after they go?
Me: (staring at him with jaw dropped)" your kidding right? You don't know when Valentines Day is? It's like Christmas, or your wifes birthday, it's always the same date every year without fail THE SAME DATE."
Hubby: " humm, well, (big pause) is it in February then?"(he said taking a wild guess)
Me: " yes dear it's in February...... When?...(another big pause) Do you really not know? "
Hubby:: Humm,,,,,,,,, No I guess I don't. Why? Should I know? I mean it's really not something I have given a lot of thought to. Honestly whats the big deal?
And so ladies and gentleman that's how it is around here!.
I further told him that these are the things that drive women crazy about men and why the divorce courts are full. Yada yada yada.
If I was younger and didn't have 35 plus years invested here with mounds of unrealized expectations of romantic gestures, we would be looking at a huge tearful knock down drag out fight. BUT As it turns out I am not at all surprised he didn't know when Valentines day is. Over the past years if it had not been for all the ladies in the office getting flowers delivered to them on that day, or our daughter getting balloons, Teddy Bears and flowers delivered to her, he would not have known enough to stop at the trusty Drug Store after work and pick up a card for me.
So all of this brings me full circle. Last week while cleaning out our closet for the new carpet I came across one of those cards that I had saved. As I reread it I laughed out loud at it's adorable funny message. He obviously had taken great care to pick out the perfect card for me and I was touched all over again. We shared a giggle about it and continued our work, as I tucked the card back in it's hiding place to be found once again someday just when I wold need a reminder of how sweet my husband really is.
For the millions of women out there who can relate,,,,,,,, Squeeze the one you Love today, (after you mentally slap them upside the head).
