What a big world it is
Many times we have said that it is a small world when discovering the 6 degrees of separation within our everyday environment. Most of us have met people randomly that that know someone that knows someone that we all know mutually. Having just arrived home from a 14 day trip abroad I really half expected to run into someone I knew. Silly right?Even Bob would ask, "have you seen anyone you know today", or "recognise anyone". We really thought that we might. But sitting on the corner or Bond and Oxford Streets in London at a cafe just outside of the Tube station near our hotel we watched a world of different people whirl past us on their way to somewhere and never saw a soul we knew. Imagine that. We spent many an hour at cafes in the 4 country's we visited. I learned so much about this world just from watching people. Not just in the cafes either. If you want to see the world in a microcosm go through customs at Heathrow Airport in London. It has to be the melting pot of customs in the world. It was the first time we had traveled abroad since 9-11 and I have a new respect for the security around the world. They where very tough at Heathrow. The fella next to us said one wrong word and was sent back to Houston after just arriving. It put the fear of God into us. Never disrespect a customs agent! They do a wonderful tough job and I am grateful for them.
I won't tell every tale of the trip nor am I going to post a ton of pictures that you can see in books, but if you are going to London or have been you may like this video of the Underground that I took as we headed back after a long sightseeing day. Oh and don't forget to "Mind the Gap" (you had to be there).
