Be Creative Today
One of the cool things about getting a new car is the free Siruis Radio for 6 months. It took a bit if investigating but I found Martha Stewart's channel 112 ( I know what your thinking but don't) and have really enjoyed it. It's like a magazine on the radio. On my way home from Grand Rapids, a 3 hour ride, I listened to the Veterinarians show all about immunization for your pets and how unessessary it is after they are a couple years old. Then a show about Cooking, then one all about Cocktails, then gardening, then one with a dietitian taking calls on foods to feel better, yada yada. You get the drift. Something for everyone.
So yesterday I was going shopping in the "city" and another hour long car ride ensuded. The topic this time was a show all about becoming Creative. It was really interesting in a Left brain kind of way, explaining the way our Left brain really takes over as we get older and the Right brain(creative side) does not get exercised regularly and therefore can wither.
I can't tell you many times I have had people tell me that I am so creative and they could never do "that". I always found that amazing because I really did feel that it could not possible be true. I knew what maybe you didn't, and that is that You could be creative in YOUR way. Now before you get all "nah ahh" let me explain it as I heard it yesterday.
We all have a creative side. Not necessarily in an artistic way but "creative". The guest on the show wrote a book called "The Artist Within" a guide to becoming Creatively Fit". As she explained it she never thought of herself as a creative person but is now an artist and also utilizes her creative side by being a "bridge" to bring people together to achieve projects. Thats where it gets relevant for today. With the economy in the toilet and so many folks out of work it is the perfect opportunity for them to find their creative edge and let it stear them into a new career.
What I especially liked where the creative exercises she coached and are available a bit on her blog and website http://www.creativelyfit.com/ . The part about raising creative children is so good. Get them away from left brain things for awhile and just scribble together.
This whole idea that anyone can be creative is so TRUE. You don't need to have a sewing machine, or a box is paints to be creative. Yours may be that you are creative socially as a networker, or a creative thinker.
So next time you are inclined to say that you are not Artistic or creative STOP yourself and change THAT. Take the time to exercise your creative side and feel the relief and giddiness that results from it.
