Refashioning Again

Okay so I made a pledge about not buying new clothing for 6 months. Well I fell off the wagon a couple times. I know My Bad. But in my defense it was only a couple times and single items. But anyway the streak has come to an end and I am glad because Spring fever has taken hold and I NEED some spring things. Okay I don't really need them but I am a girl after all and there is something about change of seasons that makes you want to have a whole new wardrobe. I won't go that far but I do want a bright springy blouse or two, don't you?
So I decided to allow myself that splurge but at the same time I am going to just refashion my jeans to a new shape and make a couple skirts. I have rediscovered skirts this past few months and I love them. I don't wear jeans hardly at all anymore and it is so liberating and comphy. I have noticed however that the silhouette of jeans is changing. I have a pair of skinny jeans and I do like the feel but can't help but think that Stacy and Clinton are filming me and going to make me watch clips of how terrible I look in them and that a woman of my age should not be wearing them. Not to mention that with the weather is getting warmer so I won't be able to wear boots with them and then it will really look like I am trying too hard. So I decided to just take some of my flare jeans and taper(not in a bad 80's way ) the legs a bit. I had been feeling that the flare was a bit much . I can't explain it but it just didn't feel right anymore. So I refashioned a pair of my favs and made them a straight leg style. I think they will be good for the coming season. I can roll them up a bit or bunch them up over flats. Also they don't look out of proportion with looser tops like the flare and boot cut styles do. So here is what I did. Now it is important to mention that this particular pair had seams that where not top stitched so that made the alteration easier. Usually the inside leg seam is not top stitched so in that case just take it in on that seam.
